Late in 2014 Alison opened a Gallery/Bookshop in the town of Fish Creek in South Gippsland. Not far from where Alison was born, Fish Creek is nestled in the middle of the landscape that inspired classics such as My Farm, Magic Beach and The Quicksand Pony. Nearby, Waratah Bay is home to Noni the Pony.
The space is a dedicated 'Alison Lester' wonderland with over 70 different Limited Edition prints on display and available to buy along with all of Alison's books. There is also a wide range of greeting cards and wrapping paper.
We have a great "reading library' for the kids, and the young at heart, where you can come in grab a book off the shelf, relax on one of the lounges or grab a cushion on the floor and share some of Alison's wonderful stories. There is a wide selection of Alison's books in foreign languages to enjoy as well.
We have examples of preliminary working drawings, sketches and displays of how Alison develops ideas and the process of turning those ideas into a picture book. We have a great folio with lots of sketches from some of the earlier books such as Imagine, My Farm, Rosie Sips Spiders and Magic Beach.
A great addition to the town of Fish Creek where there are already wonderful galleries, cafes, interesting shops and a great pub.
Opening hours may vary, especially with Covid 19 restrictions changing all the time. We open everyday during Victorian School Holidays, 10-3pm, and at least every weekend, 10-3pm. Depending on the time of year, the Gallery could be open for extended hours. Check the Gallery Facebook page, and/or Latest News on the home page of this website for updated hours. You can also ring the gallery and check / listen to opening hours on the answering machine.
